This week one of my readers reached out to me and emailed me. I love that! I’m the lone ranger here at my school district so I love when other SLPs reach out and contact me. Please, please, please always feel free by pressing the little “envelope” icon on the top banner of my blog!
Kristina from Silence Isn’t Always Golden emailed me about an amazing opportunity that she is taking: going on a mission trip to Zambia, Africa with CLASP International to provide speech therapy, community education, and training of the VERY FIRST speech pathology graduate students in the COUNTRY!
In this part of the world, kids with disabilities are often viewed as “cursed.” If they survive and are not abandoned, there is often no treatment and they are viewed as “less than human.” CLASP International (Connective Link Among Special needs Programs) is a nonprofit healthcare and social service organization that seeks to improve the lives of children and adults with disabilities in developing countries.
In faith, Kristina is going to this underdeveloped country and will be providing speech therapy for these kiddos. I wish I was so brave! Please take a few moments and watch the video below. As a new mom, it had me in tears thinking of my little Aislyn.
I would love to help this organization! So…this Saturday and Sunday (May 17th and 18th) all the proceeds from my TPT store will be donated to CLASP International, specifically for Kristina, who reached out to me. During these two days, my entire store will be 10% off. A win-win! You get a sale, others get a donation!
Click HERE to be taken to my store and let’s help these kiddos get some speech therapy!
Come as you are. Leave encouraged.
I'd love for you to join my newsletter family so that I can start sending weekly encouragement as well as access to an entire library of free resources like this Student Self-Progress Report Sheet!

May 16, 2014 at 2:03 pmI recently listened to an SLP describe her experience with the CLASP program and her trip to Zambia. It moved me so deeply that I cannot wait till I can be a part of this program. The work is truly amazing and filled with purpose that we should all do our part to support CLASP! Working as a full time SLP and being a mommy to a toddler has put me on a strict schedule but I know that I will do my part some day to work with CLASP. Thank you so much for putting the information out there for others to hear about the program!!
