As we all start thinking about getting our rooms ready this year I thought I’d share a fun little craft I’ve had on my mind for quite some time-a SPEECH sign. I see a lot of teachers with their adorable classrooms decorated in even more adorable signs (bought from Etsy) and I wanted one too-just not the Etsy price tag. I made this little guy for under $10. Can I get a Woo Hoo?! I love this sign. It makes me happy just looking at it. You could also do one for READ, VOCABULARY, LANGUAGE or just about anything.
Here’s what I did:
I bought the letters at Walmart for $1 a piece. Okay, so we’re up to $6 now. Then, I bought a picture dictionary book in the bargain bin for under $4. These types of books are everywhere. You could probably even grab one for cheaper at Goodwill.
Get your supplies ready:
You’ll need your letters, your book, decoupage glue, scissors and a pencil. Oh and a newspaper if you’re messy like me 🙂
Place your letters on the corresponding dictionary page (S goes with s-words) and trace and cut them out.
Here’s where it gets fun (and sticky). Slather a generous amount of decoupage glue on each letter and stick the letter cut-out on top. And…if you’re weird like me, slather a little on your hand (on accident of course!) just so you can peel it off later.
Just look at that beautiful, sticky mess.
Cute, easy AND inexpensive? Love it!
For those of you on Pinterest, here’s a fun little picture to pin!
