Well…I have some news. This speech therapist is having a baby!
My husband and I are sooo excited to welcome our first little one. It wasn’t an easy journey for us, however, with doctors telling us we would have a 3% chance of ever getting pregnant. God is good and through answered prayers, we’ve been blessed with this little miracle.
Our mid-point ultrasound was last week so I’ve began to tell my students this week…although a few of them figured it out before I said anything!
The way they process the news is hilarious! Here are a few of their responses:
From a 5th grade boy: “I knew it! I knew it! I went home to tell my dad and he said “Don’t ask her!””
From a 3rd grade girl: “Some of my friends thought you were pregnant. I didn’t, but my friends all did.”
From a 3rd grade girl: “If it’s a girl, you should name it my name!”
From a 9th grade boy: “I thought your stomach was looking bigger.”
From a 2nd grade girl: “I’ll babysit”…..um…maybe not!
I do love my students! They will always be my kiddos!
We will find out with our families over Thanksgiving whether we are having a boy or girl. It was so hard handing over that sealed envelope to a baker knowing she would know before we did but we did it! We’ll cut into a cake and be just as surprised as them!
After telling my students the news, I showed them over to a little box on my counter top. Then, I had them guess what they thought I was having. They had so much fun participating!
So far, boy is winning by 1 guess!
Any guesses? I would love to know what you think!
Come as you are. Leave encouraged.
I'd love for you to join my newsletter family so that I can start sending weekly encouragement as well as access to an entire library of free resources like this Student Self-Progress Report Sheet!

November 27, 2013 at 3:16 amWow! So happy for you. I know that overwhelming happy feeling of finding out that your baby is healthy and growing well at the half way mark after years of trying and being told it may not even happen. Having a baby and raising children is a very special and wonderful thing. I have guess girl as I am surrounded by pink from your blog and I’m feeling girl vibes. 🙂 Congrats again!! Sincerely, Manda

November 27, 2013 at 10:05 amHi! Congratulations! I had to write you and tell you that we also had a tough time and did a few rounds of IVF. We were fortunate to end up with twin girls and I was also given the same odds of having another child again. 14 months later, I found out I was pregnant with another girl who is now 3 and testing us daily (but that’s another story!!) Good luck with everything and I am now dying to know what it’s going to be! Thanks for sharing your story!

November 29, 2013 at 6:21 pmYEAH!!! Babies are the best. Mine are 15 and 13. I miss their little fuzzy heads, but I’m fortunate; they still snuggle. Prayers for a healthy pregnancy, uncomplicated delivery and a life of blessings. You’re right; God is good!
