“Mommy, is daddy burned up? I don’t want him to be burned up.” I instantly racked my brained as to what my 3 year-old was referring to. “Oh, do you mean “burnt-out?” I asked her, remembering a few days ago my husband and I were talking about his busy season as a realtor and how swamped he felt. The words “burnt-out” were definitely used.
In this moment, you may or may not consider yourself a “burnt-out SLP.” However, as someone who is starting her 8th year (wow-can that really be?), I promise you there will moments that suddenly have you questioning your career choice as an SLP in the schools.
Summer should be the time we use to get refreshed and regain the passion for our career in the schools. However, if you’re anything like me, our well-meaning intentions to do so get crowed out with even busier schedules and more obligations, often draining us empty before the school year ever begins.
Because I believe we can and should be passionate about our jobs in the schools, I’ve created a special 6 part newsletter series that will have you counting the days until you return back to school. Okay-maybe not that extreme, but I can assure you that there will be less stress and anxiety about that first day back. Unlike most voices today telling you to do more, this series focuses on how you can cut back, focus on the things that really matter, and rediscover the passion for this amazing career you’ve chosen. I hope you’ll join me! Simply make sure you’re signed up for my newsletter by clicking HERE and check your inbox on Sunday for the first post (make sure you check your spam/promotion box as well just in case!) Talk to you Sunday!
Come as you are. Leave encouraged.
I'd love for you to join my newsletter family so that I can start sending weekly encouragement as well as access to an entire library of free resources like this Student Self-Progress Report Sheet!
