We’re back for another Tuesday TPT Tip. I hope you’re finding these as helpful as I am! Today we have Felice over at The Dabbling Speechie to join us.
I am glad to be back hanging with you all over here at Allison’s Speech Peeps blog! Nicole always has such inspiring ideas and resources, so it is a privilege to be here sharing with you all. For this Tuesday TPT Tip, I am going to share how to make ‘Store Banners’ to decorate your TPT store and how to add ‘Custom Categories’ to help shoppers navigate your store with ease. TPT has a lot of information on their TPT Sellers FAQ where you look for answers to questions you have about your store.
Why should you consider using store banners? Fun, cute banners are eye catchers to potential customers and it helps attract people to stay around a while on your store! Putting banners on your store is actually really easy. I used this how-to Teachy Teacher Tuesday TPT Banner Tutorial to put my first banner up on my store. Here is another great tutorial. I love that I can change my banner each season with new decor or featured items. Here is some FREE clipart to decorate your banner. Meg Anderson has made some very adorable Fall/Back To School banners that you can use on your store!
I discovered custom categories dabbling in the Seller’s forum, which I highly recommend you spend some time in their because you can learn a lot about selling products on TPT as well as networking and collaborating with other experienced educators. It has been a wealth of knowledge for me. Custom categories are very helpful for buyers because it helps them navigate your store without having to go through each on of your pages. If a buyer is looking for only ‘articulation’ materials, then can click on the category labeled ‘articulation’ and see all your products that target speech sounds. This makes our buyer’s happy and more likely to come back to our store BECAUSE it took them half the time to find a product they are looking for.
Now, how to create custom banners. Go to your dashboard page and click on “view/edit product listings” and then click on “add custom categories”. You can then type in any category name that you want for your store. on
Then go to “quick edit” on MY PRODUCTS and chose whatever product you want to add a category to. I chose to add a category to my 3 Billy Goats Gruff Pack. I simply scrolled down the custom category list and selected “Book Companion Packs”. Now when you go to my Book Companion Pack Category you can see all my products that have sets for different children books.
I hope this tip was helpful for you TPT sellers. For all you BUYERS out there, I hope this tip helps you find what you are looking for on TPT more efficiently and with ease! Visit my blog, facebook, TPT, and Pinterest for more ideas and resources.
