Today I’m excited to be joining Speech Room News for her Thrifty Finds Linky Party! I love snatching up a good deal-make that-I won’t buy ANYTHING unless it is on sale. Admittedly, I have spent quite a few of my own dollars on school supplies and therapy materials this year. Sooo…finding therapy materials for cheap is a must for me.
I head off to my local Goodwill store, excited to see what treasures await me…
I love Goodwill…you can always count on finding something interesting and fun.
First, I grabbed up these summer cups, plates, pitcher and eating utensils-all for under $5. And….then I threw in some sunglasses, just for fun.
This year during social group, I plan on having a summer popcorn party using these materials. Eating is such a social activity…so why not practice social skills while you are eating (if you are allowed by your district, of course). We can talk about asking for more, saying “please” “thank you” and “excuse me,” and offering to help clean up when finished. And I just know my kids will love the added touch of wearing sunglasses to our summer party!
I also ventured to the back of my Goodwill store and stumbled upon what I would call “heaven.” Just look at all these games!
I couldn’t resist this Angry Birds game
Finally, I picked up this fairy wand. One of my teachers, Sugar and Spice, talks about the “Handwriting Fairy” coming to visit. She walks around the room, looking for students who put a little extra work in. This wand will be perfect when tapping their work and rewarding them with an extra sticker!
I hope these gave you some great ideas! Now…get out there and start shopping at those garage sales or thrift stores! Head on back to Speech Room News to check out other finds!
