Here in room 134, we’ve been busy making snow globes and learning some new winter vocabulary! The kids LOVE crafts so the last few days before Christmas is usually when I pull out something fun and easy for them to whip up. Snow globes are my favorite because you can use them even after Christmas. You might remember these fun snow globes last year.
Here’s what you need for these easy snow globes:
1. Blue construction paper (I gave the choice of a few different blues)
2. Brown construction paper
3. Plastic wrap roll (the kind you use for gift baskets)
4. Glitter
5. 2 Levels of Vocabulary Words (click HERE to download it for free)
Okay, here we go:
1. Cut out circles of the blue construction paper. I used my Common Core Can as a template and it worked PERFECT.
2. Divide the circles up equally. Cut the middle out of half of them. A really easy way to do this is just to fold them in half and cut along the edge.
3. Cut out strips for the kids of the Leveled Winter Vocabulary and keep them in separate piles.
4. Gather all your supplies
5. Have the students cut out the vocabulary words and paste them on the solid circle. Place some glitter in the center and a strip of glue around the edge.
6. With your plastic wrap, take a sheet and cover it over the circle, making sure to press down around the edge.
7. Cut the extra plastic off around the edge and glue a brown triangle for the base. Next glue the hollow circle on top around the edge. Voila! You have a beautiful snow globe AND your students learned some new vocabulary!
Come as you are. Leave encouraged.

December 15, 2014 at 8:58 pmWe made these adorable snow globes today and all the students LOVED it! I am thoroughly exhausted and covered in glitter but so happy to see my students having fun while learning new winter words and practicing their sounds in winter words! I used a paper plate as the background of the snow globe and that worked quite well. Thanks for the idea :)!
