We’ve all been there. You’re looking for a specific resource you know would fit perfectly with the group of kids that are about to walk into your therapy room in…oh 2 minutes and YOU CAN’T FIND IT. I can feel the anxiety start to well up in me just thinking about it.
Here are a few tips on how I keep my materials organized and close at hand:
- Organize your therapy activities by season first (beginning of the year, fall, winter, spring/summer):
- Once you have those organized, take the rest of your materials (the ones you can use anytime of the year) and file them by skill:
- Next, I file away things I have in mind for a particular lesson (like my 1-Item Therapy Materials). This system of filing ensures easy access to all of my materials…fast
- For assessments, separate them by grade so that you can easily grab baselines for that new second grade student who just moved into your district.
- Keep personal and students-who-are-no-longer-on-your-caseload files toward the back since its not likely you’ll be reaching for them often:
- For bins, pick up these versatile labels at the Target Dollar Spot or simply laminate and use double-sided tape so there’s no guesswork when reaching for those items.I hope this gave you a few ideas so that the next time that group of students walk in, you’ll know exactly what and where to grab those materials!Feel free to pin the image below!
