Brand New Curriculum and I couldn’t be more excited about it!
Perfect for students with apraxia, articulation sound disorders, phonological sound disorders, or any student struggling with phonological awareness.
Okay, so here’s why I’m especially excited about this: As an SLP, the needs of my own students and caseload determine the direction of my resources. With this curriculum, however, however, because it is developed as a result of combining my knowledge as an SLP, my observations from a mama of a child with speech delays, and my own learning and research done in the area of teaching reading (who knew teaching something that is so HARD could be so beneficial!?)
While working with my own child and other students with speech delays (specifically students having apraxia), I noticed that they often “get stuck” on sounds and have trouble transitioning from one sound to another. In addition, they benefit from sounds, syllables, and words being made VISUAL, which can then also translate to phonological awareness and reading skills.
Here’s a short video giving insight into how it works:
Here’s what’s included in this extensive curriculum:
- SLP Hierarchy Sheets to print off and keep track of progress or document specific break-down areas for each syllable shape (/ba/, /bi/, /boo/, /be/, /ba(long vowel)/, /bo(long vowel)/, /ab/, /ib/, /ob/, /ub/.2. No Print, Systematic Hierarchy Curriculum to use on any tablet, computer, even phone which contain interactive buttons to progress through (see short video above).
3. Home Practice Sheets using the same method, with clear directions for caretakers to practice at home for consistency and results.
Here’s why it’s so effective:
•This comprehensive sound unit is hierarchical and progresses in difficulty both in task requirement and sound formation. This means:
- Tasks are broken down into syllable shapes (/ba/, /bi/, /bo/, etc.) Every syllable shape begins at the phoneme level, progresses to the syllable level, then the word level, and last the phrase and sentence level.
- Within the word level, each sound also progresses in difficulty (for example, if working on the /ba/ syllable shape, a child is often able to say /t/ sounds before /s/ sounds, and /s/ sounds before /k/ sounds so the words would progress from “bat,” to “bass,” to “back”).
•This unit is purposeful in its use of visuals to facilitate learning sounds, syllable shapes and phonological awareness skills. I used the same concept of visuals many reading books use when teaching students to read. This means:
- Sounds are demonstrated with real visuals.
- Words are highlighted using real stock photos (over 50 stock photos per sound included)
- Students use their finger to highlight when learning to say syllable shapes and words.
- In addition, students progress through the unit using a tablet or computer, allowing for a low prep, flexible, and an extremely effective tool in your therapy rooms. Simply open up on any tablet or screen and you are ready to go!
The /b/ curriculum is posted HERE and 25% off the first 48 hours! More sounds will be created and sold and once all sounds are finished, there will be a bundle. If you buy an individual sound resource and later want the bundle (you can be refunded the price of the individual resource in the original amount that you paid)!
I just know your students will have great success with this unit! If you have any questions about this resource, please reach out and email me at nicoleallison@speechpeeps.com

March 4, 2021 at 4:30 pmI am starting therapy with a 12 year old non verbal autistic boy who appears to have very high level receptive language. How can I get the sound shaping hierarchy and would this be appropriate???
