Because students are so diverse in their needs, there is no “one size fits all” approach that works. And we know that our students with special needs especially benefit from REAL visuals they see everyday, in their own world, as opposed to cartoony clip art.
I decided to make it easy on us to create our own custom visuals with my newest resource Custom Visuals. All you need to do is download the free Adobe Reader onto your computer and insert pictures and text where you see the shadowed boxes in this resource. I laminate mine and use velcro to attach the pictures.
Each visual is designed for you to take simple pictures and add easily them in. For example, if a student’s schedule is listed as “music class,” I encourage you to take a picture of the music teacher and insert it into the schedule. If your student is working for classroom cash, take a picture and insert into the reward/token charts.
Here is what is included:
- First, Next, Last Visual
- First, Next, Next, Last Visual
- Visual Schedules for 6 and 8 periods (broken into morning and afternoon)
- Visual Schedules for 10, 12, and 14 periods (broken into morning and afternoon)
- Reward/Token charts for 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10 opportunities
Here’s a quick video to let you see it in action!
