I think you should come to ASHA. Just so I can meet you. Even if you haven’t bought your ticket or asked off work, be spontaneous and just do it. I know, I know. It’s expensive and you might not have any time off work, but I would love to see you there. 🙂
Last year was not only my very first time to ASHA, but it was also my first time I had EVER traveled alone. And let me tell you, I was nervous. Usually, it’s my wonderful husband that has the planner, the flight schedules and a neat little excel spreadsheet of all the best restaurants in the city. He loves that stuff. I don’t. But I made it last year, in one piece. And I had a blast meeting up with these 10 other blogger friends.
THIS year, there are 15 of us going! We’ll be practically living over in Booth 429 so please come and say “hi!” And pick up lots of goodies we have for you.
Something else is different this year. I’ll not only be at a booth, I’ll be presenting along with the amazing Jenna Rayburn (Speech Room News). Our presentation, Practical Applications & Therapy Ideas When Implementing the Common Core, will be taking place on Thursday at 1:30 in rooms 405, 406 and 407. We have lots of fun, PRACTICAL therapy tips so don’t miss out!
I think I’m pretty much set. I’ve packed my clothes and even prepared my husband and Aislyn meals because, you know, it’s hard trying to work full-time from home AND take care of a baby.
I’m still trying to figure out this other suitcase thing. The one with thousands of /r/ decks stuffed inside to give away at the booth. I’m already over my weight limit and still haven’t fit them all in. Oh well, I officially have until 2:00 am tomorrow to figure it out. And then I’m on the plane and the planning is over. But please, please, stop by and pick one of these little decks up. I CANNOT travel home with them. So take them off my hands.
As previously stated, I really, really, really want you to come. But if you can’t, it’s okay. Let me say that again. It’s OKAY. Sometimes we can get so down on ourselves and start comparing. And that’s not okay. Remember, you know your students so you are the best SLP for them. It’s being the very best SLP each and every day that matters, not going to ASHA. I’ll miss you greatly but don’t be too hard on yourself.
So…for my readers on the other side of the screen, my entire TPT store will be 15% off during ASHA. Hopefully, you can find something in there that inspires you to be the very best this week!
Come as you are. Leave encouraged.
I'd love for you to join my newsletter family so that I can start sending weekly encouragement as well as access to an entire library of free resources like this Student Self-Progress Report Sheet!

November 12, 2015 at 9:47 pmLoved your presentation at ASHA. I can’t wait to get back and try out the conversational speech activities you presented. Can you send me or post a copy of your complete presentation? Only a few of the slides were uploaded to the ASHA site. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and creativity!

November 13, 2015 at 6:01 pmSo proud to be a National fan of yours after such a beautiful presentation. Thanks for letting me be a part of it. You & Jenna compliment each other and have your own CORE values in life, obvious to me. It’s fascinating to me to think of all the clients you 2 reached yesterday by your dedicated work to reach those you presented to & they will take to their clients!
Mostly, thx for being a sharing friend to my daughter!
Can’t wait til the next time! (Without Urgent Care or her brother’s strep!…)
Much love & thx, Becky Rayburn
